"Bohemian Rhapsody" is bad in the way a lot of biopics are bad: it's superficial, it avoids complexity, and the narrative has a connect-the-dots quality. This kind of badness, while annoying, is relatively benign. However, the attitude towards Mercury's sexual expression is the opposite of benign. I don't really let the ratings dictate whether or not I'll watch a movie, as I've enjoyed 4's and 5's and disliked 6's and 7's, but I found it funny how Bohemian Rhapsody was steady at an 8.4 from theater run until the Golden Globe nominations, when it dropped to an 8.3, which it stayed at until the Oscar noms, where it just dropped to an 8.2 and now an 8.1 in a matter of a few weeks.
